Good economy for good change: Slow Food and B Corp

Torino-Lingotto Fiere

The economy must serve the people, not the people serve the economy. This fundamental principle, which the Chilean economist Manfred Max Neef spoke about years ago at Terra Madre, has never been as relevant as it is today.

Likewise, companies, as a fundamental component of an economic system, must be at the service of society and must act as a regenerative force for people and the biosphere. What may seem like a utopia has already taken the form of a movement involving more than 60 countries, of which Italy is one of the protagonists, made up of tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and businesses. For more than 10 years, the companies that incorporate this new paradigm have been called B Corp and Benefit Corporation worldwide: these are companies, in 150 different sectors, that use all their potential to regenerate society and the biosphere and create a future of lasting and widespread prosperity. Slow Food since 2016, has recognized a strong proximity of values and objectives with the global movement B Corp.
