Beyond Turin: Experience the Tastes of Piedmont

Step out of the city for a taste of Piedmont

For the 12th edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, local Slow Food Convivia have collaborated with Tour DiVini to offer 15 itineraries to explore the provinces of Piedmont.

While Terra Madre brings together visitors and producers to learn more about the Slow Food movement, these itineraries will introduce international visitors to Slow Food’s home region: Piedmont. The second-largest region in Italy, it offers beautiful natural landscapes, including access to the Alps, incredible artistic heritage seen through its many royal palaces, and excellent local products and gastronomic traditions, such as the world-renowned wines of the Langhe.

Tour Divini researched and designed every itinerary with help from local experts, creating excellent opportunities to see and taste all Piedmont has to offer. Each one is connected to a Slow Food Presidia or typical product of the region. Offering an authentic experience, the excursions will connect participants with producers, chefs, and expert winemakers; they are a perfect way to complete the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto experience.

For those who have never visited the region, some excursions serve as a perfect introduction to Piedmont’s provinces and will take you to the most famous areas. One such area is the Langhe with its wines, truffles, and beautiful villages overlooking the hills of vineyards. Another is Verbano, where you can discover the beautiful landscapes and agricultural excellence of Lago Maggiore.

While for those already familiar with Piedmont, other excursions present the regions incredible surprises, as there is always more to discover off the usual tourist routes. For example we will discover the heroic vines in Valle di Susa; or the Slow Food Presidia of Biella with the Alto Elvo butter, produced in an ancient monastery, and the Macagn cheese; also there will be the opportunity to visit the wild hills of the Alessandria and the Tortonese, discovering Timorasso and another Slow Food Presidium, the Montèbore cheese (or the salami of the Valli Tortonesi).
